Era just handed me the Egel Nest Award this weekend. (Thanks Era for choosing me to be a recipient of this award!)

Brad Egel originally created this award and started the egg rolling to pass the love around.

I’m passing this award to:

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you look forward to your birthday?
Hmmm… I’d give it a 5. I am indifferent to it because I’ll be turning 32 then. Pretty much ‘not in the calendar,’ as they say! I am looking forward more to Erin’s first birthday, which, occurs, by the way, on the same month.

What is one word you don’t like the sound, spelling, or meaning of?
There are so many words out there so I sought Google’s help to give me a shortlist of possible words. Ok, here is my random pick: furuncle. It sounds weird to me. Its definition? Well, it’s also known as a boil. In Filipino, pigsa! Yuck! 😛

Do you wear sunglasses when you’re outside? If so, what does your current pair look like?
I used to wear a pair before. But now with a little girl who’s keen on grabbing everything in sight, not anymore.

Main Course
If you were to write a book, to whom would you dedicate it?
Definitely, J and Erin. They are the most important people in my life. My world revolves around them.

Name a beverage that you enjoy.
I love iced coffee drinks, especially topped with whipped cream! I refrain from drinking them these days because I am still breastfeeding Erin. So whenever we got to a cafe, I just order a cup of hot choco instead.

Feast One Hundred & Sixty Two

How are you today?
Tired. I wish I can catch up on my sleep. Erin is really a handful.

Name 3 television shows you watch on a regular basis.
It’s reality TV season here so my top 3 shows right now are: Australian Idol, Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You can Dance.

What’s the scariest weather situation you’ve experienced?
This happened 7 years ago. I was coming home from work and when I was about to get down from the jeep in Baclaran, the rain started to pour heavily & the wind was blowing really hard. Unfortunately, I did not have my umbrella with me at that time. And alam nyo naman sa Manila, konteng ulan lang, baha na. I ran for cover and the only place I could find was under a big umbrella owned by one of the vendors. I couldn’t get a ride as well because all the jeepneys were full. In short, I was stuck, not to mention I was also soaked to the skin! Di lang yun, when I finally managed to get a ride, super traffic naman. Igot home at around 9pm already and I left my place of work at 4:30 pm pa. My mom was worried sick! Buti di ako nagkasakit after nun. Since then, I have vowed never to leave the house without my umbrella.

Main Course
If you could wake up tomorrow morning in another country, where would you want to be?
Definitely, the Philippines. Where else?

What do you usually wear to sleep?
I am mostly in my PJs, especially on cold nights. In the summer, I wear tank tops and boxer shorts.

What is your favorite type of art?

  • I have always been a fan of abstract art. It is very subjective though. Its randomness in strokes or method can turn out to be very appealing for some people and at the same time off-putting to others.
  • Soup
When was the last time you got a free lunch (or breakfast or dinner)? Who paid for it?

  • We were invited to eat dinner at my sister-in-law’s house last weekend because some friends from Manila, Sydney and Canada were in town.
  • Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how emotional are you?

  • Ever since Erin was born, my emotions have been on a rollercoaster ride. It could be due to hormones or I could just be overly tired from taking care of Erin. So I guess it’s a 10 for me now. 😛
  • Main Course
Approximately how long do you spend each day responding to emails?

  • I check my emails everyday so it does not take me long to do it. I respond to emails directed at me immediately so there is no backlog. Total time spent each day devoted to emails alone would be around an hour.
  • Dessert
To what temperature do you usually set your home’s thermostat?

  • Now that it’s spring, the thermostat has been turned down lower. On average, it is around 20 degrees C inside the house.

This meme from Jen is terribly long overdue. Here goes…

    1. Food you hate – Hmm… I can’t really hate food. But I’m not so keen about eating lamb, liver (except liver spread).

    2. Fruits that you hate – For some reason, I’m not a fan of the caimito or star apple. It’s flesh is slimy and that’s what I don’t like.

    3. Veggies that you hate – Mostly ones that are slimy. (Do you see the trend here? 😛 ) A great example of this is the okra.

    4. Celebrities or people that you hate – Celebrities? Naku, a lot.. especially those former child stars gone wild. Tsk, tsk.

As for people in general, I hate hypocrites, pretentious, proud, snobby, holier-than-thou individuals. These are just to name a few. 😀

    5. Situations you hate – I hate waiting.. I also hate having to go to a party where I hardly know the other people who are also attending it. This is because I hardly make the first move to socialize. 😛

    6. TV Shows or Movies that you hate – I see a lot of mystery/investigation type of series on TV. I am definitely not a fan of them. They were ‘cool’ at the beginning but I eventually lost interest in them.

    7. Type of Music that you hate – Rock is not music to my ears anymore. They were the ‘in’ thing back in high school. But these days, I prefer more mellow sounds.

    8. Household chore that you hate – Cleaning the bathroom. All the rest, I don’t mind doing.

    9. Things you hate about the world – Violence and how people these days do try to take advantage of the less fortunate. That’s sad. 😦

    10. Things that you hate about yourself – I can’t help but be so O-C. Sometimes, it is the cause of some of J and I’s arguments. Everything must be done in a specific and exact order.

Ok, got to go now. Erin’s awake! 😛

    Odds and Ends

Remember Baby G? Well, here she is now at three months of age.

Ain’t she the cutest? It looks like I’m going to miss out on a lot in seeing her grow up. She might not even remember when we get the chance to go home for a vacation.

Oh well, other things await me here. Can’t wait to have our own little angel soon. I’m sure I won’t be pining for Baby G by then anymore. We’re still crossing our fingers!

Last week marked my second month here in Oz. It also marked a few “firsts” as well.

For starters, J has finally allowed me to drive the car. Yes, I was so happy he finally let me take the wheel. But before you go and ask which places I’ve been to, think again. I have only been allowed to park and take out the car from our garage and drive it around the cul-de-sac at the end of our short street. That is about it.

I have yet to gather enough guts to take the car for a real drive around the area. Apart from observing proper traffic rules, I need to concentrate as well on gear shifting as our car is not automatic. I do drive a manual back home, but it’s the right-hand orientation that challenges me.

My three months are almost up and by then, I’d need to take the exam so that I can secure an Australian license. But before that time comes, I hope I have mustered up the courage to drive independently so I can pass the exams with flying colors.

Oh, and I applied for a job for the very first time too. I figured since there were so many opportunities for people in health care, I might as well start finding one. I’m taking this in a happy-go-lucky kinda way as there really is no need for me to rush.

If there is a job offer soon, I’d happily take it. If the right job has not come along yet, I’ll just wait until the right time has come. Besides, I only intend to work part-time so that I can still have time to manage the house and I don’t overly stress myself (fertility-wise).

    Que sera sera.
